Evenings on Király utca

The building stands in the middle of the pedestrian street, and several of the best evening spots are a few steps away. These are the ones we recommend, with walking times from the building.

Király utca is the pedestrian street of Pécs, and in the evenings this is where the old town is at its liveliest. Over its history the street has had twenty-one names: between 1930 and 1991, for example, it was named after Lajos Kossuth. Today it is lined with terraces, bars and restaurants, and you can reach most of them from the building in a few minutes.

Nappali on our ground floor

You don't even have to step out of the gate. We think Nappali is one of the best bars and event venues in town: it serves drinks from local winemakers and brewers, holds regular record fairs, and often has a gig or a music night. It's an independent venue, not part of the hostel, but it's one floor down.

Wine tasting on the ground floor. In the 2026/27 season, Cornel's wine and beer tastings are held at Reggeli, the restaurant on our ground floor, on selected evenings from 7 pm. You'll find the dates on the Made in Pécs magazine website.

Made in Pécs Café 2 min

On the corner of Király utca and Kazinczy utca. They sum themselves up in three words: music, drinks, good conversation. They serve local and international specialities, beers, wines, premium spirits and cocktails.

In Pécs, Made in Pécs is also the name of a music festival: at the Made in Pécs Festival more than two hundred local acts play at nine venues in a single day, and the café is one of them. The 2027 festival is on Saturday 9 January.

At number 64, at the eastern end of Király utca. A community space: a café and kitchen during the day, gigs and talks in the evening. It's dog-friendly, so you can bring your dog too.

For gigs, check the venue's Facebook page and the ticketing websites.

Pécsi Est Café 12 min

It's a bit further out, on Rákóczi út, but worth the walk if you want live music. A pub, events venue and inclusive community space in one, with a programme that runs from punk to jazz and from blues to techno.

If you're staying with us

The building stands in the middle of the pedestrian street, with Nappali bar on the ground floor. That's one of the best things about the location, but it also means you may hear the street and the bar in the evenings. We give out earplugs for free. What to expect
